Series of six flags

For the Poolbar Festival 2019, Maria Scharl has realized a series of six flags, which are constructed to be a walk of shame. The names of partially convicted and partially acquitted male singers are put there in an order that one would almost think it could be the lineup of the music festival. Finished up with the fierce demand ‚THESE ARE NOT YOU HEROES‘ the festival visitors get invited to question misogyny not only within the music industry but also within their own construct of protection against the elite of heroes, who mankind have worshipped throughout history. The flagseries ‚NOT YOUR HEROES‘ approaches the abuse allegations bubbling up in Hollywood after the #metoo movement, where hundreds of thousands of women made clear, that violence against women is a structural problem regardless of the social status of the woman* – or the man.
